Ready to Grow Birth Prep Class

The Ready to Grow Birth Preparation class is one of our most popular and comprehensive childbirth education classes. Held on a weekend day, the one-day class allows parents a generous timeline to learn about crucial topics. The class topics include teaching parents the phases and stages of labor, comfort techniques, and positions for labor and birth. The class also educates about common interventions, such as induction methods and tools utilized to alter labor medically. Immediate postpartum and newborn procedures are discussed as the closing topic of the class, but it dives into what you may not know about after birth. During the Ready to Grow Birth Prep class, birth planning is introduced and discussed, which encourages parents to utilize their newly learned knowledge and apply it to their labor choices, and essentially plan out their informed decisions ahead of time in order to discuss them with the family’s birth team. The fee for the Ready to Grow Birth class includes admission for a birthing person and their partner!

The Bloom Series

Rooted Birth is proud to share our newest class development, The Bloom Series! This class is perfect for parents who want more in-depth discussions and teachings surrounding different topics of birth and postpartum. The Bloom Series is a four-session series that educates families on birth, labor, breastfeeding, and newborn care, with each class focusing on one topic. This comprehensive in-person series is perfect for all birthing families and offers to support them through every stage of pregnancy, childbirth, and the first few weeks postpartum with a newborn. The first session of this series is named Knowing Your Birth Team, and moves you through learning how your nervous system works and how labor can flow. This first class session also helps guide parents through selecting a trusted birth team and helps them understand the importance of feeling safe and confident in themselves and their team. The second class in the series, Understanding Labor & Birth, goes over the stages of labor, common medical interventions, comfort measures, and what to expect during delivery. Preparing for the Big Day & Postpartum is the third class session, named for the focus on preparation for the actual birth and how your body may change postpartum. In this third class, parents are able to immerse themselves in the emotional and physical experience of birth, while practicing breathing and relaxation techniques, and being able to explore birth preferences while building a birth support plan. Last but not least, the Breastfeeding Basics & Newborn Care class wraps up The Bloom Series. This fourth class offers hands-on guidance towards establishing breastfeeding and building confidence in the body’s natural abilities, while also teaching feeding cues and how to troubleshoot common challenges, such as shallow latching or positioning. Parents are also able to learn about diapering, swaddling, soothing techniques, sleep basics, and what they can expect at home with a newborn within this class. The Bloom Series is geared toward being inclusive, practical, and evidence-based, and offers a wonderful group setting to help parents feel secure and supported. This series is offered to birthing parents and their partners as an immersive and connecting series!

Out-of-Hospital Birth Class

Planning an out-of-hospital birth or welcoming your baby right at home? If this sounds like you, then welcome to the Out-of-Hospital Birth Class! While there is nothing that changes physiologically about birth between a hospital birth and an out-of-hospital birth, most of your options and capabilities surrounding birth DO change, which is exactly what this class prepares parents for and educates parents on. Lasting a few hours, this class offers parents excellent knowledge on various topics surrounding home birth or birth at a birthing center. Class topics include phases and stages of labor, comfort techniques, positions for labor and birth, and immediate postpartum and newborn procedures. Completely different offerings from in-hospital birth classes include going over tips for preparing your birth space, as well as transfer protocols, and even preparing a birth plan B. You can never be too prepared for birthing at home or in the birthing center space, so being able to offer this specialized education class is a wonderful and much-needed option that is available to a birthing person and their partner!
