Rooted Birth ("we," "us," "our," or the "Collective") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website at rooteddoula.com, to our Instagram and Facebook pages, and to the doula and birth/postpartum support services we provide.

Name, email address, phone number, and mailing address
Due date, birth plan details, and other pregnancy, birth, or postpartum information you choose to share
Health history or medical information you provide to help us support your care
Payment and billing information (processed via HoneyBook or Square)
Messages, intake forms, and other communications you send us
Information collected automatically:
IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited on our website
Cookies or similar technologies used for site functionality and analytics (see Section 6)
Information from third parties:
Referrals from care providers, midwives, or other clients (with their consent)
Information from scheduling, payment, or communication tools we use to run the Collective (see Section 5)

Provide doula, birth, and postpartum support services

Coordinate care with other providers you've authorized (e.g., midwives, OBs, hospitals)

We do not sell your personal or health information.
3. How We Protect Your Information
We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect your information, including limiting access to client records to the doulas directly involved in your care and using secure tools for storing and transmitting sensitive information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
4. Sharing Your Information
We share information only:
With other doulas within our Collective who are supporting your care
With healthcare providers or family members you've explicitly authorized
With service providers who help us operate (e.g., scheduling software, payment processors, email platforms), under confidentiality obligations
If required by law, court order, or to protect health and safety in an emergency

Client Management: HoneyBook
Payments: HoneyBook, Square, Venmo, Paypal, CashApp
Email/newsletter: Google
Website hosting/analytics: Squarespace
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.
6. Cookies and Website Analytics
Our website may use cookies or similar tracking technologies to understand how visitors use the site. You can disable cookies through your browser settings, though some site features may not work properly as a result.
7. social media privacy
We maintain profiles on social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. When you interact with us on these platforms (e.g., following, commenting, or messaging us), that platform's own privacy policy and terms govern how your information is collected and used β we do not control how they handle your data.
We may occasionally share general educational content, testimonials, or photos on social media. We will always ask for your explicit permission before posting anything that identifies you, your family, or your birth/postpartum story, and you're welcome to withdraw that permission at any time by contacting us.
Messages you send us through social media direct messages are not a secure way to share sensitive health information. Please use your HoneyBook portal for anything related to your care.
8. Your Choices and Rights
You may:
Ask to review, correct, or update your personal information
Ask us to delete your information, subject to our recordkeeping obligations (e.g., for insurance, tax, or continuity-of-care purposes)
Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in those emails
Ask questions about how your information is used

We retain client records in perpetuity, to be able to serve you best in subsequent encounters. If you would like your data to be deleted, please contact us at hello@rooteddoula.com.
10. Children's Privacy
Our services and website are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
