got questions?

  • For birth doula support, we will provide you with the names and bios of the doulas who are available for your due window, so you can interview them and choose for yourself who is the best fit!

Postpartum care is a bit different, but you will always get to interview your doula(s) beforehand as we collaborate on your care.

  • Your birth doula is technically “on-call” from 38-42 weeks of your pregnancy. This means they will not have any planned travel and will have their phones on for you 24/7! However, if you do deliver outside of that window, your chosen doula will most likely still be the person attending your birth. If they are not available, we will provide a backup doula from our team!

  • Absolutely! Especially for first time birthers, early labor can often be the longest and most difficult part of labor. Doula help a lot during early labor both at home and at the hospital. Once you receive your epidural, doulas still help with position changes and emotional support as you continue through the labor and birth process. Your doula also stays about 1-2 hours after birth to help with bonding and breastfeeding!

  • For birth support, in the rare case your doula is not available, you will be provided a backup doula from our team. Most of the time, you are able to chat with them before labor begins to make sure the backup is a good fit.

For postpartum care, you usually have a team of doulas you are already working with who can cover missed shifts if need be, or you always have the option of rescheduling your shift if your doula needs to miss because of illness or other unforeseen circumstances.

Our goal is always good communication in these circumstances to ensure collaborative care!

  • Of course! Postpartum doulas are trained in basic positioning and breastfeeding techniques, and they know when to refer out if something is outside their scope. On a typical overnight shift with a breastfeeding baby, we typically care for baby in another room so you can turn your brain off in between feedings and then bring baby to you when it’s time to feed!

  • It depends! Our primary goal during a postpartum shift is to care for you and your new baby(-ies). Outside of that, we want to do what will bring you the most time to bond with your baby and catch up on rest! Sometimes that means cleaning up the kitchen, preparing nourishing meals/snacks, folding loads of laundry, or playing a game with your toddler. We’re open to helping out wherever you need it, just ask!
