Serena Heras
Birth + Postpartum Doula
TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF
Hi there! I’m Serena, a labor and postpartum doula with a deep love for supporting families through one of life’s most exciting, and at times overwhelming, transitions. When I’m not working, you’ll find me searching for the best family-friendly spots around town with my little one, catching up on my favorite shows, or listening to podcasts while folding tiny laundry piles. I'm also a big fan of reading, gaming, and hiking!
HOW DID YOU COME TO DOULA WORK?
I actually stepped into this work long before becoming a parent myself. I started as a postpartum doula after years in childcare, and supporting new parents just felt like second nature. As I got deeper into the birth world, I began taking on labor clients and discovered how powerful and sacred birth support can be.
Now, after recently having my own baby, I carry an even deeper passion for this work. The support I received during my own birth and postpartum experience reinforced just how much this work matters, and how important it is to have a village when you need one most. I know how vulnerable this chapter can feel, and it’s my mission to walk alongside families through all the messy and beautiful moments with compassion, flexibility, and zero judgment.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST OR FIND MOST REWARDING ABOUT DOULA WORK?
For postpartum, I’m all about finding simple joys in the everyday and making life a little easier for busy parents, whether it’s recommending a baby product, sending along a parenting podcast to help you feel a little less alone, or just giving you a moment to breathe and let it all out while someone else holds space and the baby. I know firsthand how beautiful, chaotic, and overwhelming those early days can be, and I'm excited to meet you and your family exactly where you're at.
For birth work, there’s nothing like witnessing a parent find a strength they didn’t know they had and seeing their joy when they hold their baby for the first time, knowing they just moved mountains to get there. It’s an honor to be part of such a powerful and sacred moment.
what are your specialties or areas of particular passion?
After becoming a mom myself, I understand firsthand what it feels like when all your carefully made plans fly out the window for your baby’s sake—and I’m here to sit with you in that space, hold your hand through the hard stuff, and celebrate every tiny win. Every family is unique, and I believe in helping you figure out what works best for your family, not just what’s “supposed” to work. I’m ready to support you, no matter what your journey looks like.
I’m also especially passionate about supporting new parents, single parents, teen parents, and families going through C-section recovery.
“A woman needs not only a midwife or a doctor, but a circle of support around her.”
