birth + postpartum doula

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF

Hi! I’m Meredeth β€” a birth and postpartum doula serving families in San Antonio and beyond since 2025. I was born in central Texas and have moved all over Texas, Oklahoma, and Florida. I’m a military and first‑responder wife, married to my high‑school sweetheart for almost ten years, and a mama to five beautiful kids! When I’m not supporting families through birth, postpartum, or home health, you’ll find me homeschooling, thrifting, reading, or at Pilates! Most importantly, my faith shapes everything I do from the way I care and serve families to the way I walk through my own life. My greatest joy is living out my faith and finding joy in this crazy, beautiful thing called life.

HOW DID YOU COME TO DOULA WORK?

After giving birth to my first child in 2017 and feeling unheard, unsupported, and out of my depth there was a huge void of not knowing what I didn't know. Once I was pregnant with our second baby only 5 months postpartum, we found out my husband would be deploying overseas and would not be there for the rest of the pregnancy or birth of our daughter. I knew I needed support, so I researched everything I could on pregnancy, physiological birth, postpartum, breastfeeding, and  newborn care. I took many, many, many childbirth education, newborn care, and birth courses to educate myself, and came across a local doula cohort in the process. After having a doula for that pregnancy and birth, I knew deep down that I needed to be that support for other moms. I started supporting friends, family, and women in my church through birth, and providing postpartum support to ease the transition during that sacred period. It wasn’t until after two more babies and a whole range of birth experiences β€” including living in a maternal‑fetal care desert where support and evidence‑based care were hard to find β€” something in me lit up. Families deserve better. Mothers deserve support. So I took a leap of faith, went through doula training, and stepped into serving families professionally. My own experiences, combined with my heart to serve, are what led me right here today.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST OR FIND MOST REWARDING ABOUT DOULA WORK?

Supporting families through the most sacred moments of birth and postpartum is the greatest joy of this work. Watching mothers lean into their intuition, seeing life enter the world, witnessing families be born, and watching parents grow confident in caring for themselves and their baby β€” it’s a privilege I never take lightly. I find so much joy in helping parents feel informed and confident in their choices, and deeply supported instead of alone. Whether I am advocating for evidence-based care, supporting a VBAC, or providing loving care during postpartum, the reward is always the same: this family feels seen, safe, and supported.

what are your specialties or areas of particular passion?

I care deeply about supporting military and first responder families, single‑parent households, VBAC, and anyone navigating the tender fourth trimester. I know what it feels like to walk through pregnancy and postpartum without a partner present, to face birth choices alone, and to fight for evidence‑based care in places where it isn’t easily accessible. My passion comes from lived experience β€” from the moments I needed someone to stand beside me, advocate for me, and remind me I wasn’t alone. That’s why I show up the way I do: fully present, deeply compassionate, and committed to giving families the steady, judgment‑free support they deserve. Whether it’s advocating for a VBAC journey, supporting parents through sleepless nights, or helping a military spouse feel grounded in the chaos, my mission is simple β€” to make sure every family feels seen, supported, and empowered through birth and postpartum.

β€œto be pregnantβ€” is to have your entire world living inside you. to have a child in your arms β€” is to have your entire heart living outside of your chest. to be a mother β€” is without question, the most amazingly terrifying ride of your life.”
