I picked Ashleigh as my doula after I learned I was needing an induction for medical reasons. This was my second birth needing an induction and my first was slightly traumatic and I wanted a doula to support me to avoid what happened during my first delivery. I’m so happy to say that Ashleigh helped me accomplish my goal. She stood out to me as I read through the available doulas because she seemed so friendly and supportive and just like the kind of person I could trust at my birth. During our prenatal meetings she answered any and all questions I had, she gave comforting advice and we ironed out my ideal birth plan as well as labor coping techniques. I really appreciated how she educated myself as well as my husband so we were as prepared as possible. My scheduled induction came and when I went in to the hospital there were a couple things I was feeling uneasy about (with my nurses) and Ashleigh was a great person to vent to and she also reminded me to advocate for myself and stand up for what birth I wanted. My favorite thing about Ashleigh is how when I was going through some pretty intense contractions she always did exactly what I needed during them without me even having to speak, she just immediately went to work doing counter pressure amongst other things to distract me from the pain. I ended up having the most amazing, healing, beautiful birth experience I could’ve asked for and I’m eternally grateful to her for being by my side during such a vulnerable time.

I met with several doulas to consider which would be the best birth coach for me and knew Aubrey was the guide I needed. Aubrey helped me consider insurance issues, birth plan decisions, and topics to discuss with my provider. She was a great encourager as I prepped for birth.

During labor, Aubrey recalled my birth plan and worked with my husband to support me. Of course, she provided the heavenly counter pressure I needed during every contraction. 😅

After delivery, in the following days, she helped me process the birth and provided such good perspective.

We found out we were expecting our rainbow baby and at almost 40 years old without having had a full term baby we knew we wanted to have a Doula for support. Aubrey was amazing through our journey and really helped educate both myself and my husband of what to expect in labor. Rooted Birth and our doula, Taryn, were exactly the support team my husband and I needed through pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. My husband was skeptical about hiring a doula because he wanted to be my primary support person and didn’t want anyone to take his place. The number one reason why we chose Taryn was because of how supported and understood she made my husband feel during the interview. He could see her being part of his support team as much as she would be supporting me. From that first meeting with Taryn, she was compassionate, organized, and incredibly helpful. My pregnancy came with its hurdles and Taryn was there to help us make the best choice for ourselves with each one. She always had the information we needed when we needed it. I had an amazing birth experience and I owe so much of that to Taryn. I felt prepared to handle labor because of her support during pregnancy. She provided the exact support my husband and I needed during labor to be successful in meeting my birth goals. Taryn is an absolute champ in the labor & delivery room! She made sure I had what I needed immediately following labor so that my husband and I could enjoy the moment together. It seemed like such a small detail during pregnancy, but the photos she captured in those first moments will be cherished forever! Her help getting breastfeeding off to a solid start during the golden hour was amazing. Her postpartum support has been nothing short of incredible, and again, I believe we have been so successful in navigating this transitionary phase of life because we had Taryn to lean into.

For those considering the financial aspect of hiring a doula, I understand that too. It’s a huge expense. But I can’t put a price tag on the value of the support we received. Hiring a doula is in our top 5 of the best decisions we made for a successful pregnancy and meeting our birth goals. It would be the very first thing I would do if I found out I was pregnant again!
